DC Lasair raincheck and updates in progress.

Last week, the Internet decided to not play nicely, and we had to cancel the interview with DC Lasair. But we are hoping to have another go at it this Friday the 23rd at 3 PM Eastern or 12 PM Pacific. This time, whoever has possession of the Internet, please use it responsibly. Think of the little people!

I spent a little time starting on updates over the weekend. Actively watching more people play the game instead of handing it off and saying "TEST THIS!" has been giving me a lot of insight. We are calling 1.02 the Accessibility Update. We are:

  • Changing the text "highlight" color from a dark semi-opaque overlay to pink
  • Adding visual countdowns to time-critical minigames
  • Adding HUD displays to multi-stage minigames so you know your status

An update I would like to do later (maybe in December) - let's call it the Chatty Update - has a bit of a different flavor to it. Certain interactive elements are a bit lacking in places, especially in the first chapter or two. I have loved watching folks trying to interact with literally every object on the map - these are my people! - but felt regret that the objects weren't always responsive. So, 1.03 will add:

  • More clickable objects in the environment
  • More NPC interaction (not nearly as many "walk through" people)
  • The ability to at least knock on impassible doors for dialogue
  • It's been pointed out that a lot of bathrooms lack doors, and y'all are just going to have to live with that! Ha!

Again, 1.03 will probably take a bit longer to put out because the accessibility stuff is more important. So it will be a nice little treat and add some replay value - but a ways down the road.
